If you do the same thing I just did and they DON'T come out looking indiscernible, then you probably have different color profiles set on the different softwares (or have a color profile on one, and no color management set on the other). GIMP is a free and open source image editing program and Photoshop is a paid for image editing program that costs 9.99 per month. (And I had no color management/color profile configured for either software). They come out the same, because the digital information used is the same. You can see it half-overlapping the GIMP square layer in the layers menu on the right: png and dropped it on top of the one in GIMP.
